“Dust to Dust,” Masashi Hamauzu (vocals by Matsue Hamauzu) - Final Fantasy XIII Original Soundtrack

“Dust to Dust” is a vocal piece that serves as Oerba’s background theme, and reappears in A Dying World -700 AF- in Final Fantasy XIII-2. It was performed by Hamauzu’s wife, soprano Matsue Hamauzu, whom he met while they were both students at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music.

Matsue also sang soprano in the choir for “One-Winged Angel” in Final Fantasy VII alongside Masashi, who performed as a bass; and in “Liberi Fatali” and “Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec” for Final Fantasy VIII, when Masashi worked as a protege to Nobuo Uematsu.
